Books, books and more books!
Good day fine people.
I want to share a couple updated about my current writing projects with y’all. For about ten years now (a little longer if I’m being honest), I’ve been working on a book wherein the main character is a werewolf. I have been fleshing it out and generally speaking getting lost and going down every conceivable rabbit hole one does when they are writing a book. I think I am going to take some advice from a friend of mine who said that perhaps maybe the best thing to do is to take a break from my novel and instead do something shorter. As much as I wanted to be stubborn about plowing through and making the writing just write, I couldn’t. There was just not enough gas in the tank to get me across the finish line at this point.
I have now decided to pick up another book I put down about the time I started on my “werewolf” novel and haven’t really done anything with it since. That book was and is about…fairies. My niece was about 7 at the time I started working on it and the perfect age for a book about fairies, so I thought. Now she is 17. I think I missed that window for this book to be for her. Be that as it may, It is a shorter story and I have much of it laid out already from my earlier work.
There are a couple of other advantages I have now that I didn’t have then; I use a laptop for my work which allows me to be portable in case I want to go to a writers meet-up to visit like minded individuals and such. But the biggest game changer is the software that I’m using to organize all the details of my books. It is called Scrivener. This is a really good piece of software that allows for you to organize your chapters, have sections for random ideas, pretty much anything you need a separate section for, this has it etc…Once you are done, you can have Scrivener export the whole in on book format (the specific type eludes me now). All of these features make it ideal for your writing needs. Oh, and you can have multiple books or projects going at the same time. You can also back up your files to Dropbox in case something should happen to your computer and data from your hard drive is irretrievable.
With that, I will leave you with a picture of the two main characters for my upcoming fairy book (yes, I created this image using AI)
I would like to introduce you to Emmaline “Emmy” and Minka
